We hope people are as outraged about underage drinking and providing alcohol to minors in the Deerfield Valley as they were about the Confab signs and buttons.
According to the 2009 WSSU Youth Risk Behavior Survey:
*73% of our 8th graders said it is easy to get alcohol.
*87% of our seniors reported that it is easy to get alcohol.
*36% of our upperclassman gave someone money to buy alcohol
*64% of upperclassmen reported that someone gave them alcohol.
*40% of 8th graders reported that someone gave them alcohol.
So..........What are we going to do about this?......CONFAB!
*Start the conversation.
*Talk about this issue.
*Show some outrage that this is happening.
*Brainstorm ideas about how to address this problem
*Parents talk to your child's friends parents-Set standards and expectations together.
*Neighbors take notice if there is an underage party in your area-let the parents or police know about it.
*Support local prevention efforts.
Everyone can do their part. Let's make this a community effort for the health and safety of our children!
